The Slavic Humanities Index – une nouvelle base de données dans le domaine des études slaves et est-européennes
New bibliographic database in the field of Slavic and East European Studies
The Slavic Humanities Index is a cover-to-cover database encompassing important scholarly and cultural periodicals in the humanities of Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe. This interdisciplinary index includes bibliographic citations of articles in history, philosophy, literature, linguistics, cultural, theater and film studies, as well as cultural, borderland, and regional studies. Thus, the database allows cross-cultural and cross-discipline searching. The periodicals indexed in the database are published in Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.
Indexing begins with 1994 and is up-to-date with the latest available issue. Today, the database includes around 163,000 records from nearly 150 Slavic periodicals. This is an open-end project and in the future, more periodicals will be indexed in the database. The database can be searched in vernacular languages, in the International and Library of Congress transliteration systems. It is being updated weekly.
The database provides a single point of access to unique scholarly information about the region. Almost all journals fully covered in the database are not indexed in other bibliographic databases. Many of them are printed in limited editions and are not available on the web.
